- He is a native of Dallas, Texas and nationally recognized PGA Golf Professional.
- He developed his leadership skills early, growing up in West Dallas.
- Earned a four year Golf Scholarship and graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a degree in Business Administration. He accomplished many African American and Championship firsts.
- He has over 50 years experience operating and managing golf courses and teaching the game of golf.
- Leonard Jones was a Touring Professional for 12 years and a winner of 5 Professional Tournaments
- Inducted into 4 Halls of Fames, Prairie View Sports Hall of Fame in 1995
- Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame in 1997
- National Black Golf Hall of Fame in 1998
- L.G. Pinkston High School Hall of Fame in 1999.
- Hosted the Tiger Woods 2nd Golf Clinic in the United States at L.B. Houston Golf Course in 1997.
- Leonard was responsible for getting more than 40 individuals, 4 years scholarship for Junior Golfers.
- Leonard was featured in the Golf Channel Documentary Uneven Fairways, Breaking the Colored Barriers of Golf and serving as a speaker at the Harvard University Institute of Politics John F. Kennedy Center.
- Leonard can be found on any given day coaching the next Hall of Famer at Country View Golf Course in Lancaster Texas or at Prairie Lakes Golf Course in Grand Prairie, Texas.
